Keith Henning

At 6-foot-8, Henning is the tallest pitmaster in North Carolina. He played four years of college basketball at Catawba before getting into the BBQ business. He is the Black Powder Smokehouse pitmaster and executive chef at restaurants in Jamestown and its new 2023 location in Asheboro. Henning was selected to compete in the North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association Chef Showcase at the Angus Barn in 2022. Henning made it to the top 10 of the showcase event among the best chefs in the state by staying true to Southern barbecue traditions while adding a whitetable cloth approach. Black Powder Smokehouse was voted “Best Barbecue Restaurant” in Guilford County in 2019, the year the restaurant opened.
